Bayern Star Santa Cruz for England?

Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz may be on his way to England.

The bustling Bayern forward wants to leave Germany and has confirmed that he would love to play in the Premiership. When asked if English clubs had been in touch he broke out into a big smile and said, “I am going to look at offers and tell you where I plan to go after the Copa America.”

Santa Cruz is the tournament’s joint top scorer with three goals, all of which he bagged in Paraguay’s opening 5-0 win over Colombia. The 25-year old is tall but has a nice touch and after eight years with Bayern – most of them on the bench – he wants a move.

The Premiership “is a league that interests me, of course,” he said on the eve of Paraguay’s Group C decider against Argentina.

  1. Fred

LFC will not take him now and Chelsea have their own new Latin in Pizarro but Man Utd are short of out and out strikers (as opposed to attacking midfielders) and while Arsenal have this da Silva now but lose Julio Batista so maybe they’d be in if price is right?

So much crooked cash swilling round maybe he’ll be off to somewhere like Portsmouth or Man City or maybe Aston Villa?

Wherever he goes I think he’d be a real hit. Have liked the look of him for a long time.

  2. Fred –
ManU go Carlos Tevez http://venezuela07.wordpress.com/2007/07/04/tevez-signs-with-manchester-united/ so maybe Arsenal is the only option.

Is he playing tomorrow? My gut feeling says that Paraguay vs Argentina will be another bore, to continue the run of crappy games of late. All subs and no real plan of attack for either team.
